About Me:
My story starts in the beautiful town of Whitefish, Montana near Glacier National Park. I grew up there with my four parents and four sisters (including step but we're all family). I love Montana for its simplicity, the nature, the mountains, and the people. Montana will always be my home, and I am so grateful to come back to it, as a sixth generation Montanan.
Yet, I also like to explore new places which is why I went to school at the University of Oregon in Eugene. At the UO I studied International Studies with an emphasis in Comparative Development and sub-Saharan Africa. At the UO I made life long friendships with some inspiring people, who will always be my biggest supporters. I don't know where I would be without them. I began by studying French, and learned about francophone Africa, which led me to learn another African language, Swahili. To practice my Swahili I studied abroad in Tanzanian for a semester in Fall of 2012. At the point in my life I fell head over heals with East Africa, and so I decided to find a way to go back.
On September 9th I will be traveling back to this region of the world as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Rwanda, and I couldn't be more excited to learn another African language- Kinyarwanda. I want to share my love of East Africa with anyone else who is interested, so I created this blog. I hope you enjoy, share your opinion, ask questions, anything and everything. A passion shared with other people can lead to big changes in our world. My only hope is to be a small part in them.
